Dogs are really great pets, but they are not just animals they are people’s best friends, with amazing gifts, skills and talents. A dog is capable to do a variety of dog tricks as long as you are patient and dedicated to teach your best friend. When you teach a dog how to do tricks, you are also teaching them obedience manners, and patience. Which is why it is you should teach your dogs these tricks, especially while they are still young. Though you might want your dog to learn a trick right away, it is best to not over teaching your dog tricks, as teaching your dogs to much tricks can become boring for your dog.
- How many tricks can you teach your dog?
There are a variety of dog tricks that you can teach your dog, because all of them have the capability to do tricks. Dogs can kiss, turn around, play dead, roll over, beg, shake hands, crawl, say hello, quiet, bow, run around, fetch, wave, twirl in a circle, carry objects, yawn, put their heads down, touch, high five, speak, and go in a circle. Though every dog can do these tricks, some dogs learn things longer than other dogs, because some dogs have more instict than others.
- How can you teach your dog how to fetch?
Fetching is what every dog lover wants their dogs to learn, but not every dog has the amount of instict as other dogs. So if you have been teaching your dog how to fetch, and he/she isn’t quite getting it, it is probably because they don’t have very good instinct. Just stay patient and your dog will fetch in no time. Take 10-15 minutes on this trick, always throw something that your dog is very interested in, like squeeky balls or frizbee’s. Always make teaching your dog fun and exciting, so he/she doesn’t get bored. Every time your dog fetch’s, give he/she a treat, whenever a dog works for treats, they get more excited.
- How can you teach your dog how to speak?
If your dog always answers the door from the doorbell, they are possibly capable to speak. Everytime someone doorbells command your dog to speak. There is still a chance your dog will bark even if he/she sees you. If they do not want to bark because they know it is you, ask a family member or friend to doorbell for you, then tell your dog to speak. If someone doorbells leads your dog to run and bark around your home, make sure you put he/she in a leash, just so that you can keep your dog focused. When your dog has already barked, give he/she a treat and if you think they don’t need a leash anymore, you should take it off.
- How can you teach your dog how to twirl?
Get a very delicious treat that your dog cannot resist. Make sure the treat isn’t to chewy so your dog doesn’t choke while twirling. Afterwards, when you two are practicing make sure you guys are in a quiet place with absolutely no distractions, so your dog won’t be distracted and not want to learn the trick. Then, command your dog to twirl, but make sure that he/she is not barking or running, so your dog won’t get confused. Only teach your dog this trick about 10-15 minutes a day. After your dog is twirling you can then give he/she another treat for their obedience.
- How can you teach your dog how to play dead?
Teaching your dog how to play dead is a very neat game, that is a very fun way to spend your afternoon. Make sure you have tasty treats to keep your dog excited. First, let your dog run around the park or yard, so that they won’t run inside your home. Then, when you bring your dog inside and tell he/she to sit down, scream BANG, and at the same time point your hands like a gun, while it is pointing at your dog. When your dog has pretended to play dead, give he/she a treat. You should redo this process about 3-4 times until they are pro’s.
Every trick is a very great afternoon game and activity for you and your dog, make sure you always give your dog a treat to praise their obedience and patience. Just remember not every dog can learn tricks as fast as others, just stay patient and your dog will learn all of these tricks in no time. So stay patient and give your dog time, in a couple of days, your dog will be a master with these tricks.
